The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. We often don't realize how this affects our body and our minds, yet we feel the change.
We're moving from outdoors to indoors more and more each day. It happens every year but can catch us by surprise if we aren't intentional. So when the seasons are shifting, our wellness routines need to shift with it.
Here are 4 tips for how to shift your routines with the season:
1. Choose seasonal foods.
Eating what's in season is both good for our bodies and sustainable. Check out your local farmer's market for seasonal foods!
2. Create new nightly routines.
What can you add to your night routine now that you've got less daylight hours? Maybe even come up with a daily routine for sunset to prepare your body and mind for the evening.
3. Get some sun.
It can be so much harder to get sunlight in the fall and winter, but our bodies need it! Maybe get up with the sun and spend a few minutes outside. Consider taking your lunch or work break outside to soak up some Vitamin D.
4. Plan a soup swap with friends.
Call up all your friends for a night of sharing your favorite recipes. You'll get a lot of new ideas to try this season too. Plus, it's just fun to say soup swap, right?
